Driving along Glen Etive, past Allt a Chaoruinn you'll be parking about 2 Km before Loch Etive before the phone, on the map.

Allt MheuranThe Allt Mheuran is another tributary flowing into the river Etive. Situated on the West coast of Scotland, North-West of Crianlarich / Tyndrum or South of Fort William. The Allt Mheuran is just off the A82 up Glen Etive.

Glen Etive is popular not only for the river Etive but for the tributaries that flow into the Etive.  Allt a Chaoruinn and Allt Mheuran being the more common ones run.

Before you even think of getting on this ditch, know this, whilst kayaking this ditch some time ago we were unfortunate to use mountain rescue, air ambulance and a sea king helicopter. One of the group broke their back! If you paddle this tributary you'll run a real risk of breaking your back. You HAVE been warned!

But hey, it's good fun and the last drop goes like an express train! Whoo Hoo...

For those who are good at map reading, you'll notice, there is the river Etive to paddle across and a steep walk up the hill to get to the ditch. Allow about 45 minutes to get there.

To get to the river you’ll want to take the road off the A82 along Glen Etive and drive all the way down the glen to about 2km before Loch Etive and park just close to the phone, on the map. The phone comes in handy when you call 999 after someone in your group breaks their back on the last drop.   To gauge the level, if the Etive and the Allt a Chaoruinn are going off their heads or high, then, you'll have some water to do this one. From the road, before the phone, on the map, look up to the Allt Mheuran. If there is a strong white line of water, it's good to go. Not for the inexperienced!Dom walking up the burn

After you have recovered from the walk in the first drop will get the adrenalin going. Then, the run between the first drop and the last big drop will, am sure, want for a change of underwear. Have a good look at the last drop and study the run down and the take off. You'll want to make sure you land it properly ...failing this you'll be leaving in the helicopter!
