Training? Ha! What a word.

I have a Mountain Marathon (www.LAMM.co.uk) next weekend and I have spent the last 10 days drinking high calorie beer and lots of steaks (a stag doo and wedding!)

But anyway, this event will be straight off the back of the Etive River Race, WWPF and a fortnight boating in Japan so I am hoping that boating levels will be high.

As for fitness; 3 times a week in the pool. Twice a week at circuits and a weekly run up Dumyat with boating and biking at the weekends, I think will see us both fit enough for the trip.

Anyway, determination will get you to wherever you want to be.  Grin

Ross, myself and Ian are at a circuit twice a week.  It's at the rugby club.

There are about 17 stations and your working about 50 seconds at a station going round three times.

It sounds easy but is hard!  There are about 75 people there and it's a buzz.  FAR BETTER than a work out at the gym.

Circuits being circuit training.

17 stations. In groups of four you do each station for 50 seconds. 3 times round the circuit.

As James said, a much better workout than you can achieve on your own either in the gym or on the road(running)

Is a great cardio workout and hits ever muscle in your body, including ones you didn't even know existed.

I would highly recommend attending a class. They are common and are highly beneficial.

You won't become the next Marius Pudzianouski (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariusz_Pudzianowski) but overall strength and fitness will increase in no time.
