Paddle 07
Scotland’s Paddlesport Exhibition
From Saturday 27th October 2007 to Sunday 28th October at Bells Sport Center, Perth a number of kayak, canoe exhibitors and periphery groups come to display their equipment.
Some of the exhibitors were;
I paid £7.00 to get in. But what did I get for my money?
For me, as a main stream inland kayaker, i guess this report will be slightly slanted on the river kit and inland boats. However, there were loads and loads of Sea Kayaking, Touring and Canoeing kit and displays at hand. In fact I reckon there was more to offer in this range than inland kit. My opinion, that is. Anyway's...
I managed to sit in and try the new Dagger Agent 6.4.

I have a Wavesport Big Ez, and have had it for some time. I am looking to progress and get a boat that will give me some aerial potential. Is the Agent the one? Well i managed to sit in it very comfortable, plenty foot room and snug about the hip area. Admittedly i never had my kayaking gear on. However first impression was good. Next stop is to try it on the water. I'll be looking forward in getting a demo.
Another contender is the Pyranha Rev. Some more information here on the Rev . It is very much a prototype boat, as i was told at the show. Looks a lot like the 4 twenty, as you can see from the picture. The Rev is on the right.

My first impressions, yeah i like it. I was sitting in what might be targeted as a medium sized boat, with the hip pads removed. There was a small amount of foot room for me (i have size 12 feet), however i only had my socks on. Some hard rails and lines. As mentioned, the boat is still being developed and will be out soon, am told.
Needing a new helmet I tried on a couple I have had my eye on for a wee while.The Aegis Helmet full cut V's Sweet Rocker Half cut. I know which one I wanted to fit and it was the Sweet Rocker. Why? Well it looks super cool.
The Rockers biggest size is 61cm, which is the size of my head. I tried it on and it was too tight and sitting a wee bit high.
The Aegis biggest size is 61-65 cm (XL). I tried it on and bingo. Well snug. So for the Norway trip next year, look out for me getting a Aegis.
So that was about all the kit i tried on or looked at. I never bought anything, except for coffee and cake. We spent some time looking at the films and surprise, surprise there was a really good film from www.planetpaddler.com The Tummel video was on display. Hey, it looked good on the big screen. Mind you so did the rest of the short films/clips.
We wandered round all the various stalls and checked out various bits of kit. Saw a lot of friends old and new and really soaked up the day.
To all those who organise the event and the exhibitors, well done. What a great day i had. I chatted with some of the pro kayakers and shared experiences, I was pleased to see one of the videos the PAW PAW PRODUCTION team made was shown and we blethered with lots of other people. For £7.00, i got a great deal.
